Attention Landscape Architects and students … submit your dream native landscape!

Here’s an opportunity to show off your design skills. Submit your best all Florida native landscape design and you may be a winner!

See your best work showcased Thursday & Friday, April 4-5, 2013 at Florida’s first all-native plant tradeshow in Kissimmee, Florida. FANN will install three winning native landscape designs for demonstration on the floor of the Native Plant Show.

Be bold, be creative, be different, be wild — there’s no budgetary limit or customer constraints on this project! Your design must specify only Florida native plants and install in 300 square feet max, but you can choose any landscape application of interest: residential, commercial, swales, ponds, roadside, entryways, green roofs, living walls …

You supply the design, we’ll provide the plants and installation.

Download detailed guidelines and instructions: http://www.floridanativenurseries.org/info/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/RFLDesignCompetitionGuidelines.pdf

    Judges for the competition include:
Jeff Caster, ASLA, Florida Dept. of Transportation
George Fogg, ASLA, Ibis Landscape Architect
Raymond Jungles, ASLA, Raymond Jungles Inc.
    Stephen Pategas, ASLA, Hortus Oasis
    Scott Redmon, ASLA, Redmon Design

My favorite part on the Guidelines and Instructions……..

“Consideration will be given to appropriateness of the design at maturity, not at installation”

…..so many designers never take mature size into consideration.  Does it really matter anyway?  The maintenance guy can always use gas shears on them!

My preferred aspect on the Recommendations and Recommendations……..

“Consideration will be given to suitability of the style at adulthood, not at installation”

…..so many developers never take older dimension into account.  Does it really issue anyway?  The servicing guy can always use gas shears on them!

    Thanks
