Integrated teams, which must include at least one Landscape Architect, will be competing in three Design Challenge categories for $45,000 in prizes. Each Design Challenge is based on a real property, with a real owner, intent on utilizing sustainable development practices in their project. The categories are:
• Suburban Residential - a master planned community property owned by the region’s most important developer
• Urban Redevelopment - a City of Houston project which may well be part of the biggest and most important urban redevelopment project of the decade in Houston
• Green Roadway - a one mile stretch of Harris County roadway that may well evolve into a new ‘green’ roadway section standard for the County
We’re accepting teams that incorporate members from around the country. Our Blue Ribbon panel of Expert Judges, who’ll make stage one selection of Finalists, is a group of well-known local, regional and national leaders in sustainability.
Be sure to read about the Finals Event which is the culmination of this two-stage competition. I think you’ll agree it should be lots of fun and the chance to present to the high-profile Jury Panel made of some or the Houston area’s most important developers and political influencers should be invaluable to those seeking new business opportunities. This is a unique and important competition.
