Wow, that's sad, regarding the bike rider. I hope he makes a full recovery. Shows how unsafe for bikers many of our urban areas are. I met a guy who, not long after moving to Vegas, took his bike out for his first ride here and was hit by a car. Fortunately he "only" dislocated his shoulder.
Some years ago in my former town, Trenton, NJ, we made a little memorial garden in a public park for a neighbor who had organized an annual neighborhood track meet and was killed in a car accident.
