I recently acquired a copy of LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE: DOCUMENTATION STANDARDS (WILEY) in the hope of improving the quality of my team's construction document organisation and production.
It's a fantastic book but one reference puzzled me.
On several pages there is reference to the CAD STANDARDS MANUAL, significantly so in the following ref. on page 66:
"The landscape architect’s CAD Standards Manual shall be considered a complementary manual and shall be used in conjunction with these guidelines. The CAD Standards Manual defines and describes the automated systems required to adequately depict the graphics for proper project documentation."
Note the use of italics for the reference, suggesting this is an extant book rather than a general reference to a practice's CAD standards.
Anyone know where I can obtain a copy of this manual? I have obviously done some thorough googling, with no success thus far!
I'm inquiring here because I know this volume is particularly popular in the US, where it would seem the majority of site users are active.
Thanks in advance friends and colleagues!
I find that if you can't find anything pertinent to "landscape architecture" during searches then it means that you might if you just plugged in "architecture". Unfortunately, the assumption is that what works for them must then work for us.
Plugging in 'Wiley' and 'cad standards manual' and I got this volume: http://www.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-0471703788.html
And I suppose this works for more clarification: https://www.nationalcadstandard.org/ncs6/index.php
Yes, i tried that, and found the tome you linked above. Have you used this? i was reluctant to invest in something that may or may not be the appropriate product!
Seems strange that they would reference a manual specifically by title that doesn't seem to exist, right?
There was a thread on this in the past:
I found one for the U of Conn that I believe is adapted from AIA ... page 23 has Landscape
You may also want to reference BIM for Landscape that was produced by the Landscape Institute in the UK: https://www.amazon.com/BIM-Landscape-Institute/dp/1138796689/ref=sr...
It might help to ensure that the CAD standards work that you are doing today is also preparing your firm for the future.
I emailed the publisher, and this is what they told me:
Dear Joey Donovan,
Thank you for your email.
We have checked with the relevant person in charge and they have confirm that there is no such manual. Our US editor’s understanding is that the authors are referring to a manual that they use in the their offices at Design Workshop, most probably believe that Design Workshop hasn’t published it.
Hence, the manual is not available for sale.
Apologies for the inconvenience caused.
