Cendra, are you a student?

Hi Alan, no I am not, but I have never worked on a gate detail and was trying to find some ideas in terms of hardware and material used.

if you'll google wood gates and fences you will find hundreds of good and bad ones to choose from....

Check out Walpole Woodworker. The  stock gate details should be helpful.

Look at a book called The Fence Bible. Starting on page 213 is info on gates.

Reuse and recycle. about Fence gateI would give you a simple intro to fence gates. They are available in a variety of materials ranging from steel, alumininum according to your requirement. A Fence Gate has the dual duty of a fence and a gate.It can be used as a switchable barrier which can be opened and closed by hand or by redstone power. To place a fence gate, use the Place Block control while pointing at a block facing the space the fence gate should occupy. It can also be used as a switchable barrier. You would need wood, metal hardware and bolts to built these . You can contact a fences landscape designing firm which would be of great assistance for you in this matter.
