What is LAbash?

LAbash (landscape architecture bash) is a student run conference that serves as a platform for students from various universities to converge, exchange ideas and celebrate their passion for landscape architecture.

LAbash was conceptualized in 1970 by three students from the University of Guelph looking for an opportunity to network, exchange ideas and skills with various schools around North America. It’s immense success has continued to make it an annual tradition and is always highly anticipated by students and young emerging professionals during Spring Break.

The 2012 Conference will be hosted by the Florida International University Student Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects in our campus facilities in Miami and our newly inaugurated facilities at 420 Lincoln Road in Miami Beach [ Miami Beach Urban Studios - MBUS ].

The Conference will bring together students and professionals for three amazing days highlighting the unique aspects of the design industry through:

Educational Sessions, World Class Keynotes, Graphic Workshops Special Events, Design Charette, Exhibitors, Publishers, Social Events + More!

Our theme, Urban Oasis, will focus on the dynamic function that urban landscapes have in shaping the future of our cities. In recent years, landscape architecture has taken a more prominent role as a force that informs the urban condition and the critical relationships between humans and their urban environments.

Why don't you email our course convenor. His name is Clinton Hindes. Email: clinton.hindes@uct.ac.za. I personally enjoyed the course. A lot of hard work, but definately worth it. Plus SA is just the best country ever, and Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities anywhere in the world. hope this helps.

Hey everyone. I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to be inquiring, but I wanted to start with students first. I'm currently entering my final year of study for my BLA at Pennsylvania State University. I'm greatly interested in attending UCT in pursuit of my MLA, but I wanted to get some first-hand impressions and opinions before deciding. Is there anything that anyone has to say on behalf of your program? I was fortunate enough to spend three months in South Africa a few months ago, and would love the chance to live and study there once again, but I don't want to jump in head first without some reasoning. Thanks for your help and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Cheers,

Chris

The 2nd years are each smashing a window and maybe a couple of walls after hand-in. That should get the ball rolling!

i thought we should just take out the cubicles, or at least some of them

Guys, i've been thinking we need to ask for our rooms on the 2nd floor to be converted to a studio. half the computers aren't working anyway. With all the viruses and all. We could maybe leave 2 computers in each cubicle and bring in some draphting boards in that space. It's an ideal location, close to the light tables, planning room purple haze shop and the bathrooms. I don't have everyones email addresses. if you guyz know of anyone not connected on land8lounge yet, send them an invite. then we can get the backing of all the students and forward a letter to the powers that be.
