Landscape Architect
Melville, NY

H2M Architects + Engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, environmental consulting firm in Melville, NY seeks a Landscape Architect with three to six years of experience in professional design, project management and construction observation to join our team!

H2M's Landscape Architects are involved in the design of outdoor public spaces for a variety of clients that include site designs for local municipalities, new commercial and residential developments, playgrounds, athletic facilities and public parks. These designs begin with the understanding of client needs, collecting site information and visioning a site’s potential. The designs are then progressed to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing space for our clients and their users, which become harmonious with the natural environment.

Requires a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture with 3 years minimum experience, under the supervision of a Landscape Architect, in design development of outdoor spaces. Performs a variety of tasks. Assists in collecting project information on client needs and site inventory and analysis. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals to ultimately produce project design drawings and specifications. Works with a degree of creativity and latitude under general supervision from a Landscape Architect Manager.

Job Responsibilities:
•Site investigation, inventory and analysis
•Base Maps, Site Plans, Specifications
•Hardscape and Planting Plans
•Construction and Contract Documents
•Schematic and Conceptual Design
•Final Color Renderings
•Interpret local Codes and perform due diligence
•Prepare concept documents & presentation packages & graphics
•Prepare 3D study models & rendering exhibits
•Attend and participate in team meetings
•CAD drafting, assisting with landscape design and master plans
•Coordinate with lead LA and clients various schedules for design and construction
•Meet with clients, engineers, and building architects to understand the requirements of a project

Education and Qualifications:
•Master's or Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university.
•Have outstanding design graphic skills (hand drawing as well as computer graphics).
•Knowledgeable of and have experience with construction methodologies and implementation. (Field experience would be nice, but not necessary)
•Capable of working with design teams, diverse clients, and consultants through all design stages from concept through construction.
•Have the capacity to integrate multidisciplinary thinking into the design (integration of planning and engineering and architectural elements).
•Experience with commercial, recreational, transportation/streetscape, and municipal design
•Knowledge of local plant material and construction methods
•Capable of following design intentions
•Knowledge of current sustainable practices
•Have proven experience working on multiple projects with pressing deadlines
•Be able to prepare construction document sets including hardscape, planting, landscape lighting, water features, construction details, and preparation of specification and bidding packages
•Be proficient with computer applications to create plans as well as photo realistic renderings, simulation and 3d modeling: AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign), SketchUp, Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of Rhino, Keyscape, Vectorworks, LandFX, or any other landscape program is a plus.
•Excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills
•Working knowledge of civil site work and grading and drainage.

Driveway Grades Between Two Story Self Storage Buildings 1 Reply
