A residential adaptive reuse of an 1928 grocery store in to a work-live compound.

Project Statement:

The client wanted to leave the suburbs for a more urban lifestyle. She originally wanted a new building, but after she found this dilapidated grocery store and adjacent bungalow she decided an adaptive re-use of the structures was much more sustainable. The landscape architect created a live-work compound of courtyards with a native plant garden to connect the project to the natural and cultural history of this inner–city site.
