16 Months Later...

Hard to believe it's been 16 months since I graduated from Purdue's Landscape Architecture Program... hold on, no it's not, this has been the longest 16 months I can remember. If you asked me 16 months ago where I would think I would be now, it definitely would be different that what I'm living. Not all bad though, I really am making the best of a bad situation and a poor economy.

I have traveled the world and much of the US, I'm actually working in relevant fields and I'm…

...still jobless but atleast I am happily traveling Italy!! It's amazing to see all these wonderful places that I have sat in lectures hearing about. I believe it's extremely important to travel to these places and see what has been successful design for so many years. So for any students reading this, if your program offers a study abroad to Italy... or anywhere, take it!! I learned more on mine to Ecuador than I did in any classroom and wish I would have done the Italy one also. Will post… Continue

Time to Reflect

Wow. I can't believe it's almost over. In just 9 days I will graduate and looking back on what it took to get here, all I can say is Wow. The past semester has been a rollarcoster of no sleep, big pushes to make deadlines and presentations but it all turned out the best in the end. Well, we'll have to see what the grades say but for our biggest project (The Bloomingdale 2_75) the community loved it and that's what matters most.

Our presentation for Bloomingdale 2_75 was this past… Continue

So here we are, about to go into November and it's T minus 52 days until Graduation. Wow. Where did the semester go?

There is still so much left to be done along with the dreaded and un-inspiring task of trying to find employment. It is rather depressing when we march into studio each day and the 6 of us graduating early look at each other with weak smiles in an attempt to see if anyone has heard promising news... unfortunately many are now looking to grad school or living solely off… Continue

Madness

Posted on October 1, 2008 at 6:59pm 0 Comments

So leaving for Philly and the ASLA Meeting on Friday at approximately 2am!! PUMPED!! I didn't realize Philadelphia was quite so far away but google maps is telling me otherwise. I can make it to Alexandria, VA from West Lafayette IN in 10 hours and apparently this trip should take me longer. Interesting. In the meantime, the big thing I need to get checked off my to-do list is my portfolio.

Goodness, I forgot how much I disliked working on them (portfolios). I'm on rendition about 4… Continue

Hi Bel. Sure! I'm in town and would be happy to show you our office.
Do you know what day you'll be around? I've got some meetings, but I'm in town all week.

I've heard that. I have a very good friend at AECOM Orlando (formerly Glatting Jackson) and that's what he has been saying as well.

Certainly not much going on around here. I have not heard of anyone in Fla that is busy. Most are just hanging in, getting by. I guess EDSA and probably AECOM are more busy with work in China and such, but not much actually IN Florida. Even AECOM doesn't seem busy locally.

Hi Bel
Yeah, things are still slow in Florida! I'll be so happy when it turns around, but still waiting for that. Still searching far and wide for things to work on - tho much less travel this year so far than last year! How're you?

Actually I'm staying very busy. Work hasn't slowed down and doesn't appear that it will any time soon. How are things going for you?

Hi Bel
Things are going pretty well, new prospects in the Riviera Maya, Brazil and Abu Dhabi. All hot sunny places, guess I better stock up on sunscreen!
Hope all is well with you.

Hey Bel,
Good to hear from you. I just arrived in western Ontario this afternoon. I'm here to explore some land that a friend and former student owns. We'll do some hiking tomorrow. I would like to catch up with you sometime. I hope all is well with you. It appears that you're are having fun. See ya, Bernie

have any suggestions on how to get out of honduras after the military kicks out the president, haha :) It is good to hear from you. so far the trip is going well except for the little debacle we have found ourselves in in honduras. if all goes well though, we should be arriving in costa rica by the end of the week where i will teach for a month. i will hopefully be updating my blog more in the future, so you will have to stay tuned! ciao.
