(reply to your inquiry)

I think it can be done by experiencing the "spirit of the place" and spaces by capturing or documenting the essence in situ.

Later in life - teachings of environmental sciences after learning the basic fundamentals of biology. Environmental science will touch on the many environmental global issues & challenges. (ex. waste, transportation, population growth, politics, economic issues, stress in ecosystems, severe natural disasters, renewable energy, technology, and so on.) Then, they will understand the roll of an landscape architect much better.

At early age: Adventure places and capture the spirit of these places through drawings & photography. (simple & fun)

Middle school / High school level:
Books: Environmental Science: Toward A Sustainable Future (10th Edition) by Richard T. Wright
Books: Environmental Issues: An Introduction to Sustainability (3rd Edition) by Robert L. McConnell

I enjoy Napa, its beautiful year round and the small town vibe is nice. I do wish it was more "happening". When I first moved into the area, I lived in Vallejo because the rent was low and it was a "step closer to SF" at least in terms of driving time, but it isn't exactly the nicest place. Plus my wife doesn't like to drive (she's from the UK) and where we lived originally wasn't pedestrian friendly.

I paint basically two things. I love Japanese landscapes and I like working with semi-abstract forms using bold colour contrast. I've never really moved on to oils though, I still use acrylics.

Thanks for the compliment Gabriel. Some of the sketches I loaded were from site studies that ranged from 5 - 15 min. I find if I try to noodle in too much detail the sketches get muddy and begin to miss the point.
