I worked for Halla last year and was a horrible experience, and really made me skeptical about any garden center designing. I agree the D/B is frustrating when the contractor wont install things per plan. Its even difficult to have a 5 minute meeting to discuss things.

When I interviewed at Dundee the job position was 0 salary with 8% commission as the only pay. Didnt make sense. I now work for a Landscape Contractor as the only LA and really miss the other side of design.

For 10+ years I worked in an A/E firm and really enjoyed the multi-discipline atmosphere and designing large projects. Well until then, I'm still optimistically searching for that perfect career.

I graduated in 1999, so we might have crossed paths.

Ive been up and down in a career which is recession based.

Ive resorted to planting design and project management. How was Dundee, I applied there but no $$. My heart is in planning and urban spaces.

Correct,
I applied and was denied licensure based on the fact that I don't have any experience working under a licensed LA. I work for an architecture/engineering firm and the statute only recognizes up to 2 years of experience in such a firm. It has been a topic of debate around here as to the validity of that requirement.

I was a little worried about sections C and E, naturally, but having a background working for an A/E firm I was able to pass all of the sections on the first go-round. It's definitely unfortunate to hear stories of people taking them 3,4,5 times to get a passing score.

I'm 5 years out of school, only 4 yrs experience, and am currently speaking with some potential candidates for a potential supervisory role for me. We will see how it pans out, as my job security somewhat relies on me becoming licensed.

Jordan,

Congratulations on your achieving licensure as a landscape architect! I am on the same path myself, having completed all sections of the LARE I am now waiting to fulfill my experience requirements before applying again for licensure. Care to share your story for encouragement?
