Martin Arredondo replied to J. Robert Wainner's discussion 'Editorial: Eligibility requirements for State Landscape Architect Licenses'
"Had I gone a different route in life I would have but I didn't decide to get into the design business until I hit 30. I was already too old to take a path like you or others and get into the military and get the GI bill thing going (thank you…"

Martin Arredondo replied to J. Robert Wainner's discussion 'Editorial: Eligibility requirements for State Landscape Architect Licenses'
"Saying you cannot learn landscape architecture on your own, I respectfully disagree. Frederick Law Olmsted helped design Central Park having never before executing a design. It can be done. College brings the best of what the world already knows and…"

Martin Arredondo replied to J. Robert Wainner's discussion 'Editorial: Eligibility requirements for State Landscape Architect Licenses'

Martin Arredondo replied to J. Robert Wainner's discussion 'Editorial: Eligibility requirements for State Landscape Architect Licenses'
"The exam is weak. It probably wasn't back in your day. I'll be the first to admit it. I qualified for the exam based on experience and I already knew far more than many of the people I studied with in preparation for the exam. So, to an…"

Frederick Law Olmsted, "Olmsted and Vaux entered the Central Park design competition together, against Egbert Ludovicus Viele among others. Prior to this, in contrast with the more experienced Vaux, Olmsted had never actually designed and executed a landscape design."

I've put up a couple of discussions in the past regarding tools and methods for site measuring to supplement a survey or for a small project. Back in November I saw the video below and decided to buy the Disto S910 because of its ability to export a…Continue

Usage of Native Plant Material in Landscape Architecture 49 Replies

Can anyone out there recommend sites that would have somewhat scholarly papers on the use of native plants. I am looking for advocates of this practice and those who feel it is nonsense. I'm not looking for books, looking for papers. This for a side…Continue

Project Manager Training? 4 Replies

I was wondering if anybody out there had a formal or informal PM "break in" or training program. The PM programs that I've looked into don't really apply to landscape architecture. There's got to be something for architecture or another allied field…Continue
