Hello Paige;

First, CONGRATS on earning our B.S. degree in Environmental Science.

Well, as far as earning your MLA overseas, I'm sure there are some excellent programs.  Of course, the financial situation has to be a consideration, as I'm sure you're aware of.  Cost of living and University tuition costs vary widely...in every city & University. I would recommend you do a lot of "research".

But, the most important thing I feel you should be sure about when you're searching for a great MLA program.....is look seriously at the "courses" you would be studying to earn your MLA.  In today's world...learning 3 or 4 computer software programs is "critical".  I'm old school, and I still do all my design work "by hand".  But, it's also very important that your MLA program contain very good "creative design courses", "graphic design", "hand sketching", "plant science", "grading design", etc.  You could look at several U.S. MLA programs (like Harvard) and look at the various courses they offer in their MLA program.  

Since your undergraduate degree is not in Landscape Architectural Design.....you'll have some catching up to do in your MLA program. When you graduate and return to the U.S. to do you job search, most LA firms will want to see your "University Design Portfolio".  They will be looking for "potential".......so, having strong computer software skills, basic design skills & sketching ability will be a major help to your landing that first job as an LA.

If you can find the "time"....while you're working on your MLA, you might also consider starting to work on passing the various sections of the L.A.R.E exam....which you will need in order to eventually become a "Licensed LA" in any U.S. State.  It's my understanding that it take time & money to pass that L.A.R.E....so, the sooner you can get started on accomplishing that goal the better.

Just a P.S.....whatever University (Country) you choose overseas, I would suggest keeping "personal safety" in mind.....I would give myself the same advise.
