Who knows how much prep time you need!
Only you do. If you do take the Exam right after graduation then you are well prepared. If you wait, well then research shows that much of what you learned unless you apply it…"

With all due respect, I appreciate the comment you wrote below my blog comment about Senior LA's who charge for L.A.R.E. And, as I know you will understand, I don't quite agree with you on this…"
"Bob, not everyone has access to someone like you! And the LARE prep classes were started to tackle how to teach more than one candidate at a time. I would say most of the LARE prep providers are doing this for the same reason you do, but they…"

While it's true that I didn't take the U.N.E. exam via computer nor did I learn the many computer drawing software programs....I STILL had a very successful 35+ LA design career....and I produced every project "by hand". Too many University LA grads these days, have very poor hand drawing, sketching & graphic skills.
You might be interested to know....that the young LA graduate that I mentored for (3) full years (and continue to give him advise from time to time), was a 2007 graduate of The University Of Kentucky.
Personally, I don't feel that LA University Professors are doing enough to prepare LA graduates for the "real world". I don't really think I was ready when I graduated....but, I worked for (2) different LA firms for 14 yrs. (that included 2 yrs. worth of over-time), in order to learn everything I could before establishing my own successful LA Private Practice.
I believe that Head of every University LA Program should have a couple of very experienced Principal Level LA's visit and spend an afternoon with graduating Senior LA's...have an extensive Q&A session to ensure graduates are better informed on what is expected of them when they begin their LA careers.
Now, I enjoy helping younger LA's as I believe ALL LA's (regardless of their experience level) need a "Mentor".
Thanks for the add Ms. Landregan. I think you may have been after me in the interviews for an L.A. County parks position in March of 2008. You look familiar. Either that or I may have seen your name when I looked into the LARE review course some years ago.
I found this topic "FOCUS" to be very fascinating.A few weeks ago, I watched a TV program where American Billionaires BILL GATES and WARREN BUFFETT were being interviewed. At one point in the program, both men were asked to write ONE word on a…Continue
