Greetings fellow L.A.'s!
if you're a landscape architect, and can't find a job at all, or have been laid off, come join this group! let's band together and get some ideas

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=54775192594

I think it would be a great way for the unemployed and job wanting, to come up with some ideas on regeneration and growth IN the field of landscape architecture

Hey Katrina,
I just read your post in the L.A.R.E. forum and saw that you, like me, graduated from Rutgers with the same degree, however CLARB told you that your degree is not valid. Have you heard anything from them responding to the letter that was written to them? That is really insane, because they are an accredited program...unless off course they lost it.

Hello Katrina!
Believe me, there are no firms in the Bay Area with a focus on therapeutic landscape design, so we need you here if you wish to start your own firm. In many ways (aside from Roger Ulrich's research in environmental psychology) the influence of healing gardens began here with Clare Cooper Marcus and Marni Barnes and the work being done in the Bay Area begins and ends with these two pioneers.
I am currently working on a therapeutic garden design for a senior home in Stockton; the synthesis of a trip to thirteen therapeutic gardens across the U.S. I had the honor of experiencing. I would love to meet you if you do come out to East Bay. We could learn a lot from each other, recent graduate to recent graduate interested in a vital and meaningful field in landscape architecture.
P.S. Keep-up the concussion awareness. I suffered one myself playing basketball in middle school and the coach put me back in the game thirty minutes later! Fortunately, I think I turned out okay (0:

Good luck with the move Katrina. Oakland is great and very diverse -- research your neighborhood before you move. Some areas are scary and some incredibly amazing -- but overall I love living here (we live in Rockridge). I lived in SF for 13 years and now 9 in Oakland -- and I don't miss living in SF at all. The weather in the east bay is so much nicer -- and perfect for gardening. And Oakland still has a nice urban edge to it. Good luck!
