Bava wins HGTV Landscaper's Challenge

Well, they finally aired it, It was filmed a year ago and they finally decided to air it over last weekend. Our competition was not exactly tough but we prevailed and built a backyard garden for the owners of Heath Ceramics in Sausalito, CA. We only had 40K for the whole thing hence small plants and a lot of untreated concrete. Not sure when it will air again, if ever, but you can look at the before and after photos here:… Continue

We have experienced a rush of new members from the UK as a result. One new member explained, "if you've experienced a glut… Continue

Lawn Clippings Save the World! - Old knowledge, New Facts.

I read this article and wondered why this is being reported. I thought everyone knew this! However, I was not aware of the statistics.

"The study shows that if lawn clippings are left on grass after it is mowed, nitrogen and carbon, two nutrients important to plants, increase within the soil," which then, "reduces the amount of fertilizer a landscape needs and reduces the emission of greenhouse gases from the… Continue

Confusion of what a Landscape Architect actually is!

Many times I have been asked what is my field of study, when I tell them I'm going to be a Landscape Architect. They say so your going to work in people's yard and make them look 'PRETTY.' My first reaction yeah, but when they carry on about us nowing just plants and then say hey can you help me with my yard I get fustrated. The reason for my fustration is because that is not my exact title. Yes I can do those things with my degree, but I didn't got to school to be just a designer for home… Continue

Europe/Africa Travels - 10/29/06

** This is the second update email sent out to my family and friends during my travels. Written on October 29, 2006. The funny thing about this post, is that looking back a year and a half later...i want to go back to Morocco more than any other place. I feel almost as if I did not give it enough of a chance or go there under the right mindset. Maybe it will cross my path again in the future and I will be able to test that hypothesis. Anway, enjoy!

Rebuilding Together Alexandria

This program is wonderful. It does a great job of taking care of people that don't have ability to take care of themselves and their houses. I helped out and took a leading role in helping a gentleman out with fixing up his house. The man said what had he done to deserve that and that just makes me feel good at what I was doing. It's a great thing to do and great way to help out your community if ever given the chance.
