SENIOR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT – FT, 7+ years experience

Arterra is looking for candidates with an active interest in professional development. We are focused on creative exploration and learning, and we place importance on mentoring and building the next generation of leaders. At Arterra, our senior landscape architects work directly with the partners to manage projects from conceptual design through construction.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited landscape architecture program
  • Licensed in the state of California
  • 7+ years experience, 2+ years managing projects
  • Legally allowed to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor work visas at this time.

Role:

  • Works directly with partner in charge
  • Prepares artist statement and identifies visual goals for the project with the Partner
  • Guides the design team in support of vision statement
  • Establishes, articulates and sustains a strong, clear design vision for each project
  • Works with Partner to develop Conceptual Design Studies
  • Leads Design Development phase of work, including detail generation, material selection and planting
  • Design, in coordination with Partner
  • Leads Construction Document phase of work
  • Review CD sets, prior to review by Partner
  • Manages Construction coordination, including meetings and RFI/response

Project Management:

  • Understands the scope of work, as time allotted in contract
  • Visionary leader, responsible for crafting all projects into exemplary work
  • A wide degree of creativity and imaginative thinking
  • Responsible for and committed to organizing work to be done in a timely manner
  • Responsible for project schedule and product delivery on deadline
  • Identifies/communicates additional services
  • Reviews invoicing with Partner
  • Coordinates contractors drawings for submittals
  • Coordinate cost estimates
  • Responsible for detailed record keeping of project time and tasks, recorded daily

Professional Development:

  • Meets regularly with SR LA group to define standards and systems for project work
  • Reviews speakers and product presentation to determine value
  • Actively mentors and teaches L.A.’s (understands their goals for the project and what they need/want to learn)
  • Actively develops professional relationships and attends marketing events

Compensation:  Commensurate with experience
