Merge Studio, established in 2007, is a modern landscape architecture firm located in Sebastopol, Sonoma County, California. We approach site design artfully and objectively, offering a combined perspective arranging land, water, and structure into meaningful outdoor spaces. The name Merge Studio reflects our collaborative style, connecting with our clients and interdisciplinary professionals to create successful projects. We are currently seeking a landscape architect with 5+ years of experience both developing and leading successful projects.

Lead multiple projects from conceptual design through construction observation, including coordination with sub-consultants and support staff
Coordinate with and assist the design team in the production and delivery of presentation materials and design graphics
Work with the design team to handle responsibility for the organization and ensure accuracy of all documents and presentation materials, communicating design and construction intent that reflects design integrity and graphic consistency of the firm’s standards
Coordinate with team members, and communicate collaboratively with clients, consultants, contractors and agency officials as needed while exercising discretion, logistical skills, accountability, and independent judgement in the performance of duties
Manage and coordinate project schedules, budgets, workflow, and anticipate required staff resources and delegate accordingly to meet project deadlines
Attend job-site meetings, coordinate with contractors and consultants, review submittals and drawings

Landscape Architectural Professional Licensure is preferred (but not required)
BS Landscape Architecture from an accredited college or university
5 years minimum professional experience, including project management
Software proficiency: AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp; Microsoft Office Suite
Civil Engineering / Architecture or related field will be considered

Solid design background, proficiency of graphic rendering skills, and a willingness to draw digitally and by hand -sketching
Strong leadership and communication skills, both written and verbally, ability to multi-task, detail-oriented
Knowledge of California plant material and horticultural principles
Must have a hands-on experience in project management, a solid understanding of site design and a clear understanding of the design process; as well as knowledge of grading and drainage, construction materials, and construction details
Professional experience in the LARCH industry is a must
