I was worried about the moisture issue as well since the roots are on the roof.  <br />
Maybe it&#8217;s best to have the vines in the ground and grow up the wall to the pergola, though i&#8217;d rather keep the walls bare.<br />

I was thinking more along the lines of creating a concrete planter extending into the ground from the foundation so that the roots would be contained and lining the bowl with waterproofing.<br />
Why would this not be a good idea?</p>
