<p>Mumbai lies in a humid sub-tropical environment (as compared to dry sub-tropical inland) so most pan-tropical plants from south America and south-east Asia will do well there. The only thing to be concerned about is that if you&#8217;re very close to the sea, then the plants need to be salt spray tolerant.</p>
