I am traveling to Toronto for Greenbuild in October and would like to check out projects while I am in town. Any recommendations you can provide on must see sites will be greatly appreciated. I am primarily interested in projects that openly display sustainable design practices in both public and private settings. And in playgrounds or schoolyards that encourage children to interact and play in nature. Thanks in advance for you help!
If you get a chance, check out the Don Valley Brickworks by Evergreen. Not only are there some great design elements (including an area by Claude Cormier), but there is one of the best farmer’s markets in the city held there every Saturday. There is also a [work-in-progress] outdoor children’s play area with many interactive features.
