Studio Management – Scheduling

I am looking for a better way to schedule staff and keep track of work as it flows through our studio. I have tried Microsoft Project and various spreadsheets but none have worked as well as I had hoped. We are a studio of 6 people and we typically have 30-40 open contracts at any one time.

Any thoughts?
