The windows at the Charles Lummis House in Highland Park, CA. Old photographs as windows! The whole house is an exercise in bricolage: tree stumps, telephone poles, you name it, he tried to turn it into use!
The house is named ‘el alisal,’ and Lummis walked across the continent, decided to build ‘here.’ It’s a great place nestled into (and hidden in) an absolutely normal part of town right off of the Pasadena Freeway.
