Jenna Bayer Garden Design is in a dynamic growth stage and is excited to begin our search for a new Landscape Architect to join our team. We look forward to welcoming another design professional to our highly talented studio in the San Francisco Bay Area. We continue our mission of delighting and surprising our clients with exceptional landscape architecture, garden design, and sustainable and successful professional practices. This role is key to the JBGD Design Studio as a licensed Landscape Architect in Design, Project Management, as a valued team member, and as we continue our success in the residential landscape market.

• Living in the San Francisco Bay Area is required, and much of the working day is spent onsite at projects on the Mid-Peninsula, and working with other team members.

Core Responsibilities
Major Responsibilities include:
• Assisting with design development (hand/digital) for small, medium, and large-scale landscape projects
• Presentation drawing preparation
• Detail design and construction drawing preparation
• Undertake multiple projects or facets of various projects
• Project Management
• Project and Task Leadership
• Maintenance of Plant Knowledge database
• Knowledge and maintenance of National and Municipal Codes including local town and city guidelines

Leadership Skills
• Effectively orchestrate activities and personalities
• Persuasive advocate for solid design and construction and steadying influence for the team
• Ability to listen to a vision and fulfill the tangible requirements to perform the vision
• Natural capacity to make sense out of diverse multidisciplinary requirements and to bring the project goals into focus for everyone involved
• Ability to research and present design and construction options so the team can make informed decisions that ultimately give the project greater depth while keeping within scope and budget
• Ability to present construction management and contracting options
• Natural capacity to foster enthusiasm about the project by engaging the team across discipline lines and creating a collaborative environment
• Present challenges and growth opportunities for associates

Skills Required
• Minimum 6 years of design, graphic, and construction drawing preparation experience
• ASLA/LARE Certified Professional
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Experience in developing own time management and organizational skills
• Solid design and graphic communication (hand/digital) skills
• Strong technical and construction knowledge
• Proficient in AutoCAD or Vectorworks, MS Outlook, Excel, Word, GoogleSuite, Bluebeam, Asana, Working knowledge of Photoshop, GIS Applications
• 3D and Sketch-Up knowledge helpful (Lumion, MidJourney, SketchUp, 3DMAX are used in our studio).
• LEED for Homes, Greenpoint Certification, and others desired.
• Ability to develop design ideas and solutions from concept through construction.
• Technical knowledge and ability to produce construction documents, including site details, hardscape, landscape structures, materials selection, grading, and planting plans, in detail.
• Strong specification and quality control experience
• Ability to check jobsites, construction progress, attend site meetings with other trades, and contractors.
• Ability to present projects to clients and municipalities.
• Clear and effective verbal and written communication
• Successful management of complex projects and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage and mentor team members.
• Proven ability and desire to engage and retain clients.
• Licensed in CA required. Licensed in OR, WA, AZ, NV, ID, UT desired.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person (with some remote work after 6 months of training)
