Thanks guys. I’ve seen many of the previous discussions on this topic. Reviewing my last post, I realized I had mentioned I had been running LandCAD. That part was true. However, I have not been using LandCAD. In fact, I haven’t used it for a single project. I couldn’t get out of the tutorial phase. The LandCAD folks have offered me extremely generous upgrade pricing for the different modules (about 1/2 the cost of a new Vectorworks installation), and I believe the program is stronger and more stable now. But adding the $4,000 for base AutoCAD or AutoCAD Civil would be just too much for my budget. I think I need to prove to myself I can even make the leap from the drawing board before I invest in the full AutoCAD solution. I’ll take a chance on the Vectorworks and report back.
