I might suggest that taking A&D at the same time might be a good approach as well. There was quite a bit of material that seemed to overlap on the 2 tests…might as well study it all at once!
I took all 3 at the same time. It is indeed doable if you follow Ray’s suggestions. I spent about 6 weeks studying intensively…an hour or two every weekday morning before work, and 3 or 4 hours a day on the weekends. It’s a lot of material to cover. The best suggestion i have is to take every practice test you can get your hands on…PPI books, whatever ASLA has, whatever your friends/colleagues have, and especially the sample tests that CLARB offers that you have to pay for. It’s not fun to pay for practice tests, but i found that those were most similar to the actual test. The PPI tests seemed ‘easier’ than the real test. The most important thing about the practice test is not so much how well you do taking it, but paying attention to all the material that’s embedded in each question and exploring the concepts presented as options. If you see an answer option offered that you’re not familiar with, look it up. That will help you cover a lot of ground if you do that for each test question.
