Annual Meeting & Expo

Please excuse me for whining, but does anyone have insight into why the ASLA annual meeting is scheduled in late fall? In Chicago this year, the weather is likely to be less than ideal for getting outside and studying the subjects of our profession. The Denver meeting last year was in late November. Temps averaged just above freezing. I realize the bulk of the conference takes place indoors, but if I’m spending significant money and time to attend, I would like to take the opportunity to explore the host city. One would think it would be scheduled when the weather is generally more conducive to outdoor activity.

Perhaps conference center rates are cheaper during the late fall/winter?
