Lawn Alternatives for Coastal California – Bouteloua gracillis???

Has anyone used Bouteloua gracillis, blue grama grass, as a lawn substitute anywhere in coastal California? I’m in zone 24, Santa Barbara. We have it at our local botanic garden, but I’m looking for examples of it being used in either public, commercial, or private gardens to show to our client and local design review board. Thanks!
