Does anyone know much about SafeLane?- Cost?
- How does it affect roads during rain?
- DOT knowledge of product?
- How easy is it to retrofit existing roads and bridges?
- How is it maintained?
- Are there similar products on the market?
- Has anyone used it on a project?

ParticipantNever used it but having lived in the north for most of my life, it looks like a GREAT idea. I wonder if there is any chemical leaching or significant runoff of chemicals….?

This could give some information about the chemical effects.
I had also read SafeLane protects bridges by preventing salt from leaching into the rebar on a bridge deck. Sweet!

Jason T. RadiceParticipantWould be interesting to see the longevity of this product. Generally, any coating you put down on concrete or asphalt, comes right up in a year or two. Being that this is designed for winter use when plows are involved, I can only imagine the abuse this stuff will take. Either that, or you would have to raise the plows to go over the bridge. Still, good idea, they have been having success with the molasses pre-treatment, which in the long run, may be more economical.

ParticipantSupposedly it has a a 15 year lifespan, and is “plow-proof”. More research and data would be great!
