Salary Range: $39/hr to $45/hr commensurate with experience, with overtime pay

evolveEA is headquartered in the East End of Pittsburgh, PA with a presence in Florida, California, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. This position is in-person in Pittsburgh with hybrid work arrangements.

About the Position
evolve environment::architecture is seeking a Senior Landscape Architect to join our multidisciplinary Design and Planning Studio to spearhead landscape design and planning projects, and to manage cross-functional teams on architecture, urban design, and community planning projects. Landscape design projects range in scale from small to medium size and include public, nonprofit, and private clients. Planning projects include trail system and park system master planning, and open space or ecological evaluation in service to campus or comprehensive planning. This position will make major contributions to the firm’s commitment to shaping inspiring places that are socially equitable, resilient, and environmentally sustainable.

We are seeking a design thinker and design do-er, who is committed to being active in practice, thought leadership, and community advancement.

Design Tasks

Lead landscape design projects and manage projects including parks, green infrastructure, streetscapes, landscapes, and outdoor occupancies
Direct landscape design components of urban design and architecture projects
Lead landscape planning projects and urban design efforts
Manage cross-functional teams on other Design and Planning Studio projects involving the design of the public realm
Manage GIS and urban analyses for landscape, urban design, and planning projects, including computational workflows
Manage ecological analyses and design with attention to biotic systems, including work with ecologists, civil engineers, etc.

Delivery and Management Tasks

  • Lead Business Development initiatives for the landscape architecture sector by identifying  potential projects and managing the submission of proposals and development of marketing materials
  • Manage collaborative,  multi-disciplinary teams consisting of architects, landscape architects, engineers, artists, and other specialists
  • Manage design documentation, presentation materials for public and client meetings, and final report content and layouts
  • Lead project meetings and day-to-day interactions with project team members, including owners, architects, engineers, and contractors
  • Lead, plan, and facilitate community engagement, including project goals and design workshops
  • Manage and perform 3D model creation and renderings, including the use of computational tools
  • Additional duties to manage project delivery, as deemed necessary by Principals and Associates

Professional Development Tasks

  • Maintain landscape architect license
  • Participate and/or lead firm and community volunteer efforts as an ambassador to the profession and firm
  • Pursue professional development and learning opportunities
  • Take part in, nurture, and lead evolveEA’s office culture

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience working on all phases of landscape design projects
  • Education: Professional degree in landscape architecture
  • Experience managing cross-functional project teams
  • Excellent design skills evidenced in spatial and graphic design
  • Strong technical knowledge including design document and specification preparation experience
  • Experience managing planting, stormwater, and sustainable practices projects
  • Experience with Google Suite, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, ArcGIS, Rhino, and Grasshopper
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; desire to promote and encourage sustainability; ability to take in and process large amounts of information
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work flexibly and to multitask
  • Strong project management skills; accurate, clear, organized, self-starter
  • Landscape architect license is required

Desired (but not required) Skills and Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree in landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, sustainability, or related field
Experience with Python and/or VRay
Professional certifications: AICP, ENVISION, LEED AP, LFA, etc.
