Landscape Architect

Purpose and Description:  The Landscape Architect will be responsible for implementing Grow & Company’s vision into all new landscape designs by taking a holistic approach in the way we create and manage landscapes. They are responsible for using sustainable practices to preserve natural diversity while focusing on the foundational elements: soil, sun, water, and plants.




·                 Prepares and creates artistic conceptual and schematic designs along with drawings necessary for construction.

·                 Develops conceptual designs from initial client communication to creating formal presentations and necessary documents for construction.

·                 Maintains client interaction during design and installation phases.

·                 Establishes strong client relationships built on trust, listening, and high standard of quality.

·                 Manages and coordinates with trades throughout the design and implementation process.

·                 Prepares base maps.

·                 Prepares and presents proposals for all aspects of design phase.

·                 Assists in preparation of layout, landscape, irrigation,

drainage/ grading, hardscape/construction details and as-built plans in AutoCAD.

·                 Continually increases the efficiency of your department.

·                 Assists other Landscape designers/ architects or Director as needed on any special projects.

·                 Interprets client requests, operates independently, takes responsibility and initiative, and produces needed drawings & documentation with minimum supervision.

·                Accuracy and completeness of design



Pivotal Duties:


·                To be able to establish cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

·                To have a knowledge of City of Houston and surrounding municipality requirements and guidelines.

·                To have a thorough knowledge of Houston plants.

·                To maintain a clear understanding of current design trends and ability to mold them to fit with Grow & Co’s standards/mission.

·                To have a complete understanding of all contractual obligations and customer preferences, and effectively translate that into the design.

·                To maintain constant awareness of customer expectations and effectively communicate delays or any differences from those expectations.

·                To support the Landscape Production staff in the implementation of designs

·                To support and participate in the development, implementation, and refinement of departmental best practices in all areas of design and sales. To keep abreast of new methods that might be applicable to the Company; constantly pursue new ideas which could be implemented.

·                To proactively identify potential problems in design, especially with HOA or city guidelines, and find resolution to minimize damage and/or create possible opportunity for increased revenue.

·                To develop long-term sustainable designs that will create an opportunity for successful Garden Management.

·                To manage personal effectiveness (competency, trust, communication, etc.> and maximize sales opportunities and development of customer relationships.

·                To provide and maintain excellent customer service.

·                To ensure all site measurements and records are completed accurately and flow effectively between field and office.

Minimum Qualifications & Educational Requirements:


·                 Landscape Architecture or Landscape Design Degree preferred, but not required that candidates be licensed in the state of Texas

·                 Minimum or 5 years’ experience in custom residential landscape design

·                 Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office and demonstrate familiarity with 3D Rendering Software

·                 Portfolio of past work

·                 Valid Texas driver’s license.


Extraordinary Work Conditions:


·                Work involves moderate work in most types of weather.

·                Physical requirements include walking or properties, moderate office duties (typing proposals, paperwork)

·                May require lifting of heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the workday.

·                Extensive driving withing Houston Metropolitan Area.
