The Department of Plant and Soil Sciences invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track faculty teaching appointment in Landscape Horticulture and Design, available September 1, 2014. Qualifications: Candidate must have a MLA and teaching experience. A demonstrated excellence in innovative teaching at the undergraduate level is highly desirable. Responsibilities: The 100% teaching position complements and enhances the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences (PLSC) within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR). A successful candidate must possess a passion for classroom and studio-based teaching. He/She will be responsible for mentoring undergraduate majors and teaching multiple courses related to landscape design and construction. Dependent upon a candidates interests and strengths, specific responsibilities will include teaching the appropriate number of courses to meet the 100% teaching workload within or related to the following courses: Field Sketching, Beginning and Advanced Studio Design, Planting Design, History of Landscape Architecture, Construction Materials, Grading and Drainage, Computer Assisted Design and Portfolio Preparation. Applications are particularly welcome from candidates with a strong interest and experience in sustainable landscape design principles applicable to small and large-scale settings, computer-aided design, the history of landscape architecture, and the importance of plant materials knowledge to the profession. The successful candidate will be encouraged to pursue scholarly activities including continuing a portfolio of design projects and collaborating with professional peers, members of the green industry and other related professional groups as well as with faculty and Extension personnel in the department, CANR and across the university.
