Design Technology 15 years, 10 months agoThese renders took about 25 minutes, 150 dpi, 2000 pixels in the bigger side, I used the “Final” preset.
Later on I discovered some other option under the atmosphere editor menu, activating global radiosity gives a new fell to the renders. I´m using Vue 7, I think there´s not radiosity on earlier versions. -

Design Technology 15 years, 10 months agoHi Rfox,
I know that Vue Xstream is coming with a plug-in that helps integration with Max (it also gives chance to use Vue’s render engine in Max). But I haven’t had a chance to try it yet.
So, no I haven’t used any plug-in. I’ve created the plants in Vue and exported them via standard Vue export tools with maps & UVW Coordinates. These tools…[Read more]

Design Technology 15 years, 10 months agoI like the plant library in vue and the ability to populate large areas, but it would be hard to get into a firm, so expensive and importing other geometries isn’t the best. I just like messing with it.
Are the 3d and 4th using the vue/3d max plug in? I haven’t really gone into it that far yet but it seems good.

Graphics 16 years agoHi James,
Actually, my professor introduced me to your work this past summer, my first semester in LA, and it was he who let me know about your rendering techniques and color usage. In fact, our first shot at perspectives involved 20 minute perspective-making sessions that aimed to emulate your graphics.
I could only hope that if he hadn’t told…[Read more] -

Graphics 16 years agoHi Vanessa; glad you’re having success with the colored pencil techniques. You have a good eye! I do use a cream pencil combined with peach on almost all buildings and hardscape at the very beginning of coloring a drawing, then wash over them with whatever color will best depict the material I’m envisioning…terra cotta, slate blue. etc. The…[Read more]

Graphics 16 years agoEric,
I couldn’t tell you how to do it using drop shadows, but I could offer some good advice on doing it manually in photoshop without creating numerous layer copies and keeping the file size down.
send me a message if you still need help with this and I’ll explain some simple tricks.

Graphics 16 years agoJames Richards is great. I love his simple color palette. He blends darker colors in his lighter colors to make things look cohesive. For instance, he used carmine red and true blue (i think it was true blue) prismacolor color pencils over cream to create this really nice effect. So, the cream hardscape and buildings really popped after i tried to…[Read more]

Design Technology 16 years agoIs anybody using VUE? It is pretty good though most materials would have to be custom made. Good interface with Max and is import/export.

Green Streets 16 years, 1 month agoWelcome Kevin! Thanks Jason for your comments on maintenance. After e-mail chats with many people, the fundamental move is to have regular inspections to look for needed maintenance patterns. I agree that it is a relatively new field for L. archs, and so the phrase “moving target” is apropos for the moment.
