About | “The built landscape is an artistic endeavor, demanding equal attention, care, and design consideration as any structure. I’m fascinated by projects blending architecture and landscape, where their symbiotic relationship enhances both. A respectful and imaginative approach to landscape unites us all and enhances our collective quality of life.” Blair is a Canadian born Landscape Architect living in Brooklyn, New York. With international design experience and technical expertise spanning two decades, he supports an interdisciplinary approach to design and remains a committed participant in our profession’s discussion of the public realm. With an unbridled curiosity and an intuition for how the world is put together Blair has contributed to award-winning built works for International firms of distinction including W Architecture and Landscape Architecture, PFS Studio, West 8, Martha Schwartz Partners, Thomas Balsley Associates, and SiteWorks CM. Throughout his career, he’s dedicated himself to deepening his technical and professional knowledge beyond the confines of traditional practice to better understand and more closely engage the multidisciplinary realities of our work – the psychological, artistic, and environmental values of placemaking. As Senior Landscape Architect at West 8, Blair directed the construction documentation and administration of two critically-acclaimed American projects: “Soundscape” in Miami Beach, FL and Phase 1 of the Governors Island Park and Public Space Project, NY, leading the collaboration of large teams of engineers and architects. His design and management expertise are grounded in a comprehensive understanding of infrastructure and utility, knowledge of landscape materials and methods, and site construction. A solid understanding of the interconnectedness of both living and technological systems inform his ideas and how he resolves design opportunities. Recent success includes completion of certificates in construction management and project scheduling from Columbia University and WEDG Certification from the Waterfront Alliance. I live to fly in the face of what is established and possible, I see the links between design and all that other stuff, and I have a font named after me. |
