LEED is supposed to be about integrating the various professions so everyone working on a project is on board with sustainable concepts. It would make sense that SSI should at some point integrate with LEED. However, USGBC is becoming quite the business in and of itself, so there may be proprietary issues and conflicts regarding such a merger. I’m curious what likelihood there is of putting all the USGBC precepts into a Creative Commons or GNU General Public License so other countries or international groups are not hamstrung in their own sustainability efforts. Is this already the case? Again – if it’s all about integration, shouldn’t it be at every level?

While I express myself well enough verbally, my hands tend to express my thoughts better than my speech. In other words, touch typing has extended my ability to nail exactly what I mean efficiently. Maybe it’s a question of which medium allows you to best express exactly what you want, combined with the need for efficiency. How many of us haven’t first done a quick 3D sketchup and then traced it and hand colored for a more organic visual effect?
