Colin Harlan

I’m looking forward to securing my second full or part-time internship this summer in Philadelphia.

I’m in my fourth year of a five-year Landscape Architecture Program at Virginia Tech.  I’m also pursuing a minor in Urban Affairs and Planning.  I maintain a 3.3 GPA in this highly competitive program.

I chose Landscape Architecture & Urban Planning because it allows me to combine my love of the outdoors and environment with my love of design.  I thrive in a thinking out of the box design environment, enjoy modelling designs and am very strong in this area of commercial project realization.  I have a strong work ethic.  I like to solve problems.  I work well as part of a team and am a solid leader and a strong presenter.  I’m an Eagle Scout who continues to volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America.

I have significant experience (college and high school) with AutoCAD®, Google SketchUp, Adobe Creative Cloud Software, Microsoft Office, GIS, 3D modeling by hand, grading and architectural lettering

I’d like to pursue re-energizing urban and poor communities through Landscape Architecture.   I want to work to improve people’s quality of life by bringing nature and beauty into their neighborhoods while at the same time solving functional problems that obstruct or prevent their economic growth.   I would like to contribute to a team by adding my creativity, passion and desire to learn from the best!
