    I agree that the AILA website is the best bet. Also try the AILDM website (Landscape Designers and Managers, not LAs, but another source of info on the current marketplace).

    I’ve just returned from the CELA (Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture) in Tucson and I heard about how grim it is in the States. It’s not as bad here, and we expect it to not get as bad, but there are now very few new jobs and employers are able to be very picky with who they hire.

    Private offices were reluctant to hire people before the Christmas break and January slow period so there may be a slight increase in jobs starting February. However, our recent graduates have been having a hard time in securing work and some (most of them) offices are working part-time and/or laying off people.

    There is a mixed message from the public sector. Some are continuing as before and changing their work to more conceptual & policy work.

    The construction side has substantially dried up.

    I agree that the architects are having a much harder times than us.
