Dear Yalcny,
Im gonna start to write my master paper during this summer.. Actually i will focus on those closed landfill sites.. and of course – I am interested in that kind of areas and project in abroad that have been realised.. and if you have some information – I am ready to get it from you :).. and we can make an exchange, of course.
This was about my masterpaper and my own research..
Talking about this Case study – at first I wanted to write about degraded territories in Latvia, but then I changed my mind and focused on important topic for me = one city in Latvia, where Im personally living and studying.. Jelgava city. I am involved in one EU project as a coordinator, and I wanted to introduce you all to it and some others that are connected with my topic. The story is about lost history and reconstruction of it.. After wars Jelgava City has been totally demolished (90% of area), and it lost not only the physical city, but aslo the menthal city.. it lost its history and initial cultural lanscape.. and now – with help of different EU projects and initiative of local government, we are reconctructing our menthal city.
Maybe some of you know any examples where it have been already done?.. Or maybe you cal tell your ideas about this all – is it acceptable for you that city is in the transformation stage and people are trying to get back history of city artificially…? Or should we let things happen and let city to develop their landscape its own way.. What is the right scenarious?? ..
p.s – I will make also new discussion about this topic = s0 we can continue in different place 🙂
