Dear Ivea,
Firstly, I find your case study interesting. Its a very common issue in many cities whole over the world right? Besides being damaged physically and menthally, i think it is also a result of communication age. May be there are more things to wonder, search, find and communicate especially for young people who sustain the history! At this stage i would like to know what Jelgave city dewellers think about their history?-how do they define… Becouse i think the public participation should be the biggest strenght of your project. If your traditions being damaged completely than we can talk about the real missing history, but i dont think so. How you involve city dewellers in your project and deal with their tradition and literature(which also keeps alive the history)?
Secondly you are asking if we let the city to develop its own landscape…I think its a god question but its very obvious in your project that you should give a professional way to cath up your hidden(not lost) history…
In addition i offer you to overlay our case studies, im also working on a transformation project but its more about ecologic transformation. But we deal with a historical part too. We can find the similarities of problems and solutions.
I wonder what you think about my comment, im sure it would be different from my side if i had visited your nice city!
Hear from you soon…
