    PJ your example is great and shows how a drawing can be essential in striking the power of the human imagination. I think it’s important to understand your client and know which tools to use when, throughout the process.

    Is that an either/or question? They both serve a purpose and I think one should not be abandoned for the other. I think hand rendered graphics can better capture emotion and evoke a quality of space. Computer aided graphics provide a depth of much needed technical information, they wow the eyes but don’t do much for the soul.

    I like to combine the two, however, depending on the nature of a meeting, the goals of the outcome of said meeting, and the audience, I might lean towards one or the other. Perhaps rather then thinking of “either/or” it could be seen as a continuum from gestural hand drawings to full rendered animation and everything in between. Flexibility to slide up and down the scale should be the goal.
