Nick, happy to see you on here. I could go on for days, however, I think the one thing you need is an unbelievable familiarity with the software. That keeps you quick. In terms of these being final renderings I am not sure, I think they probably are but at the moment I and a number of others are doing there complete drawing set in 3ds. In terms of billable hours it certainly depends on who you are working with. I am sure that MVRDV is doing it with great success as well as West 8, hmmmmm, there all Dutch so far. But if my business was exclusive to cranking out drawing for a quantifiable product I probably would use something else like civil. But I find that being fluent in 3ds will not only satisfy future clients or better put potential clients but satisfy your work flow concerns by speeding you up and thus delivering more stunning and realistic spacial analysis at a fraction of the time. Most clients enjoy this. The other reason is that 3ds is seamless with other Autodesk software. So if I am correct, we will be seeing a lot more use from firms benefiting from the combined use of the presentation worthy graphics and the seamless use of Revit. If you can make these work these two out in the future you are sure to make great decisions for what ever firm you will work for. This is the short answer.
