It just automatically provides an image for the country you’re in….well except for Bahrain…I’m not sure if this means Bahrain has no iconic identity!! A bit of desert…the ‘tree of life’ would be OK!

Maybe this should be on facebook but it wouldn’t upload! I’m stuck in the office at 2:00am waiting for a report to get finished so that I can check it and upload it to an FTP for printing tomorrow in Bahrain. This movie is about work and business travel. Last month I did a trip to Bahrain from Shanghai via Hong Kong, Dubai and Riyadh. I landed in Shanghai 3 days later to catch 1 day rest before flying to London. I’m not going to be winning an award for my carbon footprint in 2008. I just love the way my Samsung mobile phone welcomes me with a screen saver of the city I’m in, it’s a fantastic idea!

Tianjin Municipal Area is China’s 4th largest city, with a population of around 11 million (maybe more). Whilst the urbanisation continues, Tianjin is a low lying area. Massive regions along the coast (Binhai New Area) are being developed for industry and tourism.
Beside the Olympic Stadium in 2007, an hour after some heavy rain the cities drains just couldn’t cope. Me and few coleagues were stranded in a restaurant for lunch. When we headed back to the office, we had to Wade in the Water to cross the streets!! Music: Eva Cassidy.

Sometimes working in China can be crazy. On this occasion I was asked to fly from Shanghai to Chongqing to attend a presentation in Luzhou (3 hours drive from Chongqing) just to be a ‘foreign face’ in the presentation. I didn’t say a word, I had no input on the project. The distance travelled was a shameful waste of resources and the crazy driver was a menace to the many rural communities we passed on our journey. Here is 6 hours of the drive compressed to 2 minutes. Shocking to see the mother & child at the back of a van with crazy drivers like this on the road!

China’s growing private car ownership means planning more time to get across the city. Last October the taxi driver took the route I least approve to get to the airport and consequently got jammed in the hub of Shanghai’s new financial hub – Pudong, Lujiazui. When there’s nothing you can do, you should accept it and make the most of the situation. When you’re late, it’s usually because you left it too late. I missed my flight but enjoyed seeing the skyscrapers around me on a beautiful sunny day. Music:Aphex Twin
