Pacific Northwest 16 years, 1 month agoI see that you’re from New York. It’d be interesting to hear your opinion on what you think defines a PNW design. You mention Haag and Murase but what elements stand out to you? Are there any particular spaces that spoke to you?

Pacific Northwest 16 years, 2 months agoHey all,
I was recently in the Seattle/Bremerton area and notice with some glee, some disdain the recent parks and their design. While I’m thrilled to see more pocket parks and interesting streetscapes in the area, I have to say, the influence of certain PNW designers have positively prevailed. I don’t think these parks were by Murase or Haag,…[Read more]

University of Arizona 16 years, 3 months agoI will be in Chicago as well. Irene Ogata (she is the next state chapter president) said she thought that there was going to be a UofA table/room/reception… I have not been to a convention in twenty years so I do not know what to expect.

BUSINESS HELPS 16 years, 8 months agoOona,
LEED has been growing extremely fast these couple of years, at least in California and the bay area. Clients, public and private, are becoming much more aware of LEED and are requesting that we follow the requirements whether they are or are not applying for accreditation on a project. About half of our office of 50 is now LEED certified.…[Read more] -

BUSINESS HELPS 16 years, 10 months agoHello Chris,
In regards to your question about marketing at a home or trade show, I have some experience in this realm.
20 years ago I designed and installed a small intimate garden exhibit at the San Francisco Garden Show. I had just recently moved to the Bay area and wanted to open my own design practice.
The show was a success for me.
After 5…[Read more] -

BUSINESS HELPS 17 years agoI just recently filled the only LA position in my firm in a region where there aren’t many LA’s practicing locally. I’ve been asked to develop some marketing strategies to increase what I can bring in to the firm. Any thoughts as to how to develop the marketing side of what I can provide clients?

Pacific Northwest 17 years, 1 month agoI put an album on my folio called “Parks & Restoration . Anderson Property”. This is the project I worked on which integrates restoration and design (part of the paper I mentioned in the last email). A topic which could be argued about. You also might want to go to UW campus and see the Fisheries building and adjacent parking lot and the Shell…[Read more]
