I bought my first set of Copics! Love them, having lots of fun with them… Thanks for the site Brandon, they have great prices on everything.

Also, I really like your album of work… I’ve actually “copied” your style on some of my projects…and got good grades for them so, thanks!

March 7, 2009 at 2:35 am #175108Shannon HarkerParticipantThanks,
I looked copics up on their site and they look great… I like that they seem so “user-friendly”. One thing I’m curious about is the “density” (that’s probably not the best word) of the ink? A lot of folks in the studio like chartpaks because they are described as more transparent, flowing, and I’ve even heard “squishy”… Are the copics of the same nature? How do they compare to the “darkness” of prismacolors?thanks for everyone’s replies, i really appreciate it!

February 19, 2009 at 3:47 am #175114Shannon HarkerParticipantSo, now I have a couple more questions…
Which kind of printer will print on mylar? Doesn’t that melt the plastic part (I have some vague memory of something like that happening to me)?
And do pencil and/or ink “stick” to the plastic-y part or is there some way to keep it from smearing?
I just used my first piece of mylar and it was kind of messy from all of the smearing (on the textured side).
And, is there a good book or source for learning more about color theory?
Thanks!

January 17, 2009 at 3:30 pm #176576Shannon HarkerParticipantThanks again, Kevin. Since my inquiry, I’ve been reading and doing some web-research and have become intrigued by all of the great developments (new and old) in design and responsible water use. If only I could read German, I could find out so much more!
January 15, 2009 at 4:12 pm #176578Shannon HarkerParticipantHey Tom! If you’re not miles away you should stop by this year. LA Days will be the 1st through the 4th of April. We’re also excited to be having a drawing workshop with Francis Ching. And we’re sending four SCASLA members to LA Bash this year. Lots of great things going on… I’ve gotten some good suggestions for a “green” theme, and am hoping to make that the focus of next years LA Days, hopefully with Kevin Perry included…
October 30, 2008 at 3:16 pm #176582Shannon HarkerParticipantThanks Kevin!
I checked out his storm water project in Portland, and it looks his project is exactly what we had in mind to bring a little green slant to LA Days this year. We’re putting him on the list…Now to find someone working on green roofs/ vegitecture…September 27, 2008 at 12:52 am #176503Shannon HarkerParticipantI’d be up for it!
