I agree with Michael.  I think that the design team must have thought about it a great deal and there was probably more integrity of heart and solidarity of mind than any other project they may have worked on before.  I’m certainly glad to see so much open space and so many gorgeous trees. I saw a documentary on them – how they have been very well cared for.  So much about the response of this tragedy is solemn and very impressive, including the memorial site.

You can research licensure requirements in other states and perhaps get your license there instead, and transfer it through reciprocity.  That’s what I did!

I graduated in 1989 (technically 1992 after making up one business class…). Just got back into Landscape design after 20 years raising a family. Passed the LARE in 07 and graduated from Cabrillo College horticulture last year with an AS (is that backwards?) Working on my own out of my dining room/kitchen doing residential design in CAD. Hi to Marc Chappelle and all the 89ers..

    Ty,

That’s a great story. I have a hard time selling natives to clients who don’t know or care (or know that they should care!). One of my clients wondered if a wild plum tree was a coffeeberry bush, then I knew what my problem was. I have to be a salesperson first. A few pictures of a gorgeous Julia Phelps Ceanothus combined with a cheerful bush poppy were enough to do the trick. But pushing the birds and butterflies usually helps. Also, regarding the tropical effect, I love native Calycanthus (Spice Bush) and chain fern (Woodwardia) in dappled shade for a verdant green background for tropicals on a slope. The toe of the slope gets the moisture (for tropicals) and the top stays dry, but looks lush.
