I recently picked up the study by Stephanie Fiorenza, Carroll Oubre and C H Ward, Phytoremediation Of Hydrocarbon-contaminated Soils,
focused is on groundwater and soil contaminents. It documents the analytical tools and results of a field study focusing on hydrocarbon contamination, especially polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, in surface and near surface soils, field demonstration using soils contaminated with diesel fuels, the degradation of diesel and polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbon components. Test sites range between plots containing three different vegetation treatments, two grasses and a legume, and a non-vegetated control. They examine the perimeter of the plots, deep layers of plots, biomass above the plots. All useful information for putting a phytoremediation plan for a parking lot situation.
