I am interning in Brazil for a nonprofit for a few weeks now. I figure I could work in a foreign land after this experience. But how do I find landscape architecture firms that would be willing to hire Americans. America seems hospitalable to foreigners wanting to work but does the rest of the world. Brazil is extremely hard to get a work visa. Well if anyone Americans could reflect on their experience and explain techniques into getting your foot in the door.
While its not for me personally, it seems like Dubai has been the haven for people in the development field willing to live in a totally different culture to get some job security and lots of work. I even looked at a recent ‘success story’ on my landscape CAD newsletter, and it was from Dubai! I dont know if the development explosion has died down there or not, but there has to be many LAs who have stories to share.
I think the proverbial ship has sailed with regard to Dubai, but I may be wrong.
I think the rumors of huge salaries and amazing contracts may have been hype, too by and large.
