I was wondering if anyone out there could point me toward some figures on required density for successful TOD, BRT, etc. I am working on a school project focusing on the design of a new town center and would like some hard data to help guide my design choices.
I would suggest that you check online ULI and visit some of their case study examples. Also CNU should be able to provide development and programming data. A final source would be to search through Google Books for case studies. Hope this helps.
Nick,
Why not check zoning maps for cities with TOD’s as part of their master plan. The zoning designations should provide density requirements for residential development. I suggest a minimum density of 10 DU’s/acre to start but most TOD multi-family is probably closer 14 DU/Acre.
