Rooted in biophilic principles, Eulo Seating & Planters by Forms+Surfaces offers a reimagined approach to outdoor placemaking. The collection brings together modularity, durability, and a material-driven design language to support spaces where people move, pause, and connect.
Scalable elements, including backed and backless seating and integrated planters, adapt to a wide range of site conditions. Configurations can define social zones, aid wayfinding, or introduce natural moments of pause, all while responding to the flow of people and the surrounding environment. Each layout is designed to feel intuitive, emphasizing clarity and comfort in use.
With FSC® certified hardwoods and recyclable aluminum at its core, Eulo reflects a material ethic grounded in sustainability and long-term performance. Offered in Cumaru and Thermally Modified Red Oak, both wood species are finished with a natural oil that enhances grain and provides lasting protection. These are paired with powder coated aluminum, chosen for its strength, weather resistance, and full recyclability at end of life.
The name “Eulo” draws from the botanical world, a subtle reference to the natural systems that informed the product’s intent and form. For Lin Zhu, Junior Product Designer at Forms+Surfaces, the connection between name and design was deliberate.
“The name reflects the product’s roots in biophilic design,” she says. “It speaks to the idea that our well-being is shaped by our surroundings, and that public space should support both presence and restoration.”
That commitment is most visible in the material palette and the product’s detailing. Hidden fasteners preserve the clarity of the design, letting the materials lead. Surfaces are clean and uninterrupted, encouraging closer engagement with form, texture, and scale.
Throughout development, Eulo was shaped through hands-on iteration. Full-scale modeling guided decisions around proportion, comfort, and usability, ensuring the final design feels as natural in function as it does in concept. In-house manufacturing supports this precision, allowing quality to be upheld from detail to delivery.
Seating is available in multiple configurations, with optional backrests offered for the 360 and 440 models. The integrated planters house a 51-gallon liner fabricated from powder coated aluminum, balancing performance needs with sustainable end-of-life considerations.
Eulo isn’t about imposing form. It’s about creating room for interaction, restoration, and presence, an approach to public space that invites connection with others, with nature, and with place.
