I might add that changes to the environment of older trees (soil moisture, humidity, reflected heat, etc.) can be devastating.

a cheap slogan, that could be used for advertising our profession? Have you seen the architecture ads that show a screaming woman, and they say something along the lines of “the house is falling apart, everyone is fighting, we need to schedule an appointment for counseling…with an architect”

The reason that Dr. Hanson said this about Copenhagen is because he doesn’t think carbon trading will work. Last year I met a saleslady who repped this company’s products: She claimed they could handle the sun and heat of Las Vegas, where I work, or did at least, until August. I never did have the chance to spec them for a job. They are quite pricey…the stuff of movie star’s homes. They’re based in Santa Barbara, so there must be a rep for your area.

When I think of New Urbanism, I think of TND – traditional being the operative word. Our best example of this in SC would be a development like I’on. Maybe progressive urbanism is more modern? More hip, liberal, throw in any other related words here that imply NON-traditional.
